Kilimanjaro Climb Rongai Route https://khonzasafaris.com/itinerary/kilimanjaro-climb-rongai-route/ Wed, 07 Jun 2023 14:47:24 +0000 https://oksafaris.com/?post_type=itineraries&p=1525 The Rongai route is one of the easier routes up Kilimanjaro. Rongai is the only route to approach Kilimanjaro from the north and the descent is via the Marangu Route.Summit night from Kibo Hut is steep and follows the same path taken by the Marangu route which passes Gilman’s Point to Uhuru Peak.

Less crowded because of its remote location the route offers trekkers a unique wilderness experience where it is possible to see large wildlife like antelope, elephant and buffalo. As there is typically less moisture on this side of the mountain you are less likely to encounter rain and have more unclouded views of the peak. While it is flatter, it does not give the climb high sleep low option and therefore recommended to select more days for acclimatization.

]]> Kilimanjaro Climb Northern Circuit Route https://khonzasafaris.com/itinerary/kilimanjaro-climb-northern-circuit-route/ https://khonzasafaris.com/itinerary/kilimanjaro-climb-northern-circuit-route/#respond Wed, 07 Jun 2023 09:47:32 +0000 https://oksafaris.com/?post_type=itineraries&p=1523 The Northern Circuit route is one of the best routes on Kilimanjaro, offering nearly 360 degrees of beautiful scenery including the quiet, rarely visited northern slopes. As the longest route on Kilimanjaro, the Northern Circuit allows for the best acclimatization time and the highest summit success rate, therefore this route is highly recommended.

The route approaches Mount Kilimanjaro from the west, beginning with a long drive from Moshi to Londorossi Gate. From there, the first two days are spent trekking through the rainforest to Shira Ridge, before crossing the Shira Plateau. The route then heads north and circles clockwise from Moir Hut to Buffalo Camp to School Hut, before summiting from the east.

Kilimanjaro Climb Lemosho Route https://khonzasafaris.com/itinerary/kilimanjaro-climb-lemosho-route/ Wed, 07 Jun 2023 09:33:06 +0000 https://oksafaris.com/?post_type=itineraries&p=1521 As a newer route, it is more remote and arguably more beautiful, but a bit longer and slightly more expensive. It starts on the Western side of the mountain at the Londorossi Gate which is a further drive from town, and was introduced as an alternative to the Shira route.

After beautiful forests and moorlands it crosses the Shira Plateau on day 3 to connect with the Machame Route at Lava Tower and down towards Barranco Valley via the Southern Circuit. You may be lucky enough to see buffalo, elephant and other game. Because this route can be done over a longer period of time for acclimatization, it has a higher success rate of summit.

7 Days Kilimanjaro Climb Machame Route https://khonzasafaris.com/itinerary/7-days-kilimanjaro-climb-machame-route/ Wed, 07 Jun 2023 08:52:53 +0000 https://oksafaris.com/?post_type=itineraries&p=1518 Mount Kilimanjaro, the Machame route is the most popular path. It is the route of choice for many people because it provides impressive views and a variety of habitats. About 50% of all climbers, and most seasoned climbers, choose the Machame route. It is also one of the cheaper routes due to its easy access and shorter itinerary.

The Machame route is also known as the Whiskey route, given its reputation for being a tough climb, in contrast to the easier Marangu route, which is known as the Coca Cola route. Unlike the gradual incline and hut accommodations found on the Marangu Route, the climbers on Machame hike steeper trails, for longer distances, while sleeping in tents.

6 Days Kilimanjaro Climb Marangu Route https://khonzasafaris.com/itinerary/6-days-kilimanjaro-climb-marangu-route/ Fri, 02 Jun 2023 06:28:44 +0000 https://oksafaris.com/?post_type=itineraries&p=1516 The Marangu Route is also known as the “Tourist Route” and the “Coca-Cola Route.” This is because Marangu is the most popular route on the mountain, and thus is considered “touristy”, and because the route is the only one that offers sleeping huts, which serve beverages like Coca-Cola, on the way.
